Rouché's density-tested, gouged cane has a significantly lower variance in terms of hardness and playing characteristics than untested cane.

Density testing, a process developed by Jean-Marie Heinrich, has made reed making much easier for bassoonists. Our density-tested, gouged Rouché cane is of consistent quality and reduces the amount of discarded cane and time required for reed making.
